Strengthening Vietnam–Germany Cooperation: Thuringia Delegation (Federal Republic of Germany) Visits and Works with the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation

On the afternoon of Friday, November 7, 2025, the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation solemnly welcomed and held a working session with a high-level delegation from the State of Thuringia, Federal Republic of Germany.
The visit aimed to gain in-depth insights into the college’s vocational training activities and to explore strategic cooperation opportunities in engineering, technology, and the development of high-quality human resources.

The high-level delegation from the State of Thuringia (Germany), comprising more than 40 members, was led by Mr. Marcus Malsch, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Agriculture and Rural Development of Thuringia, and included representatives from various associations, the South Thuringia Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and leading enterprises of the state.
Representing the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation were Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong, Rector, along with the Board of Directors and the heads and deputy heads of departments and academic faculties.

The primary purpose of the visit was to exchange insights and gain a deeper understanding of the vocational training activities at the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation, as well as to explore potential cooperation in areas of mutual interest—particularly in engineering, technology, and high-quality human resource development. The visit also aimed to create opportunities for strengthened connections between the College and German enterprises and organizations.

The Thuringia delegation spent time touring the campus and the modern practical training workshops of the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation. The delegates expressed their deep impression with the college’s facilities, advanced and well-equipped training environments, and its practice-oriented training model closely aligned with real-world industry needs.

At the seminar room, the two sides engaged in an in-depth discussion focusing on the following key topics:

  • Green occupations:
    The Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation presented detailed information on its current training programs aligned with sustainable development trends, meeting the demands of technological transformation and environmentally friendly production in Vietnam.

  • Cooperation opportunities:
    Both sides held open and constructive exchanges on potential collaboration between the State of Thuringia and the College, particularly in technology transfer, the development of training programs based on German standards, and the possibility of future lecturer and student exchanges.

The working session concluded successfully, with strong mutual agreement on future cooperation directions.
Both parties agreed to establish a regular communication channel to accelerate concrete collaborative activities in the near term, especially fostering direct connections between German enterprises in the delegation and the academic faculties of the College.
The State of Thuringia expressed particular interest in the dual training model and affirmed its commitment to supporting the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation in studying and adopting German vocational training standards, with the goal of enhancing students’ professional competencies.

The visit of the Thuringia delegation marks an important milestone, bringing the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation closer to its goal of internationalizing vocational education and contributing to the development of a high-quality workforce for socio-economic growth.
