On June 8, 2024, the Trade Union of the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation officially launched a tree-planting campaign and inaugurated a commemorative project plaque on the college campus. This meaningful activity was organized to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 – July 28, 2024).

The purpose of the event is to contribute to the nationwide movement of “every household plants trees, everyone plants trees,” thereby raising public awareness of the significance of President Ho Chi Minh’s “Tree-Planting Festival.” At the same time, it encourages all union members of the college to actively participate in environmental protection and beautifying the campus landscape, helping reduce carbon emissions and promote a greener, more sustainable environment.

The trade union members took a commemorative photo after the launching ceremony of the campaign.

To launch the “Plant Trees for a Green Environment” campaign, Ms. Lê Minh Nguyệt, Chairwoman of the College Trade Union, emphasized the purpose and significance of the activity. She also provided specific guidance on how union members could effectively participate in the tree-planting initiative.

The union groups selected tree species known for their strong carbon-absorption capacity, lush canopies, and shade-providing characteristics. They also chose species with both economic and aesthetic value such as trắc (Dalbergia cochinchinensis) and cẩm lai (Dalbergia bariensis). These tree varieties are suitable for enhancing greenery across the campus, improving air quality, and creating a pleasant and sustainable landscape. All trade union members actively and enthusiastically participated, helping create a green and environmentally friendly campus atmosphere.

This meaningful activity demonstrates the responsibility of staff and trade union members in protecting the environment, beautifying the ecological landscape, and contributing to the development of a “Green – Clean – Beautiful” college campus.
