On the morning of October 21, 2025, at Campus 1 in Ho Nai Ward, Dong Nai Province, the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI) held the Opening Ceremony of the Pilot Training Course on Wind Turbine Operation and Maintenance. This event marks a strategic collaboration between vocational education and international organizations in building a strong human resource foundation for the renewable energy sector.
This special training program is a concrete outcome of the project “Development of Occupational Standards and Training Programs for Wind Turbine Operation and Maintenance Technicians”, implemented through the cooperation between VCMI and the Ho Chi Minh City Branch of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI-HCM), with support from the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI).
The course carries significant meaning as it demonstrates VCMI’s proactive efforts in standardizing and enhancing workforce capacity, directly contributing to the development of a green and sustainable economy. The development of occupational standards and training curricula based on international experience—particularly from Denmark—will help produce well-trained technicians who can meet the growing demand for high-quality personnel in Vietnam’s rapidly expanding wind power projects.
The ceremony was honored to welcome representatives from partner organizations and the college’s leadership. The speeches delivered during the event highlighted the crucial role of multilateral cooperation and the expectations placed on the next generation of wind power technicians.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Nguyen Van Chuong, Rector of VCMI, emphasized that this training program is one of the college’s key political missions in the new development phase. He noted that the college has carefully prepared its facilities and adopted advanced curricula to ensure the training process meets both the practical requirements of offshore wind power plants and international (Danish) standards. He also assigned responsibilities to relevant departments and lecturers, urging them to demonstrate wholehearted dedication and the highest commitment throughout the training. Additionally, he encouraged the first cohort of 18 students to study proactively, recognizing their pioneering role—being bold, forward-thinking, and fully seizing this opportunity to become leading experts in wind power, especially offshore wind energy.
Dr. Nguyen Van Chuong, Rector of the college, delivering his directive speech at the Opening Ceremony.
Mr. Le Anh Trieu, Deputy Director of PCC5 Company, representing the employer side, shared practical insights about the in-company training program. He emphasized that the Wind Turbine Operation and Maintenance program requires technicians not only to be proficient in electrical and mechanical engineering but also to have a deep understanding of working-at-height procedures and international safety standards.
With VCMI implementing this pilot program in close cooperation with industry partners, students are ensured early exposure to real-world technologies and operational processes right from the beginning of their training.
Mr. Le Anh Trieu, Deputy Director of PCC5 Company, delivering his remarks at the Opening Ceremony.
Ms. Bui Thi Ninh, Deputy Director of VCCI-HCM and representative of the project coordination unit, affirmed the broader significance of this cooperation. She emphasized that the project is a successful example of the “Triple Helix” collaboration model (Government – Academia – Industry), strengthened by the valuable experience shared by the Confederation of Danish Industry.
VCCI-HCM is proud to play a key role in promoting the development of occupational standards aligned with international practices, thereby enhancing the global competitiveness of Vietnamese technicians. She expressed confidence that this pilot course will become a replicable model for other green industries in Vietnam.

Mr. Thomas Skov-Hansen, Chief Representative of the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI), expressed strong support for Vietnam’s energy transition efforts. He emphasized that Denmark—one of the world’s leading countries in wind energy—considers investment in people as the key to unlocking Vietnam’s vast potential.
Mr. Thomas expressed his confidence that the training program, developed based on Denmark’s many years of experience, will equip the first cohort of 18 students with a pioneering spirit, enabling them not only to operate wind turbines safely but also to continuously improve processes through a mindset of lifelong learning.
Mr. Thomas Skov-Hansen, Chief Representative of the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI), delivering his remarks at the Opening Ceremony.
Representing the students, Nguyen Tien Dat expressed heartfelt gratitude for this special opportunity. He affirmed that all students in the course will make their utmost effort, strictly adhere to all safety regulations, and learn with the highest sense of responsibility. Their goal is to meet the expectations of the partners and become skilled, professional technicians for Vietnam’s renewable energy sector.
Nguyen Tien Dat, representing the students, sharing his remarks at the Opening Ceremony.
The Opening Ceremony of the pilot training course on Wind Turbine Operation and Maintenance at VCMI represents an important step in preparing human resources for the green economy. The core significance of this program lies in the modernization of vocational education by bringing international standards directly into Vietnam’s training environment.
It immediately provides technicians who are trained to meet the practical requirements of clean energy projects. The combination of advanced technical expertise, strong industry linkages, and VCMI’s training capacity is expected to produce a high-quality workforce ready to master new technologies and make meaningful contributions to the country’s sustainable development and energy security.
