On the afternoon of January 9, 2026, the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI) hosted an important meeting and working session with a high-level delegation from the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The visit not only opened up promising prospects for cross-border educational cooperation, but also reaffirmed VCMI’s position on its roadmap to becoming a high-quality vocational training center meeting international standards.
The UAE delegation was led by Dr. Abdullah Moghraby, Deputy Director of the Presidential Office in charge of Education and Research. Accompanying him were Mr. Jumaa Atiq Al Remeithi, Acting Head of the Education Division; Dr. Louay Jeroudi, Education Advisor; Mr. Matthias Wegner, Director of the Technical and Vocational Training Center under the Emirates National Schools system; and Mr. Hoàng Mạnh Tuấn, Head of the Economic Cooperation Section of the UAE Embassy in Vietnam.
Representing the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation, the meeting was chaired by Mr. Phạm Duy Đông and Ms. Lê Minh Nguyệt, Vice Rectors of the College, together with leaders of relevant departments and faculties.
Mr. Phạm Duy Đông, Vice Rector, introduced an overview of the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI), highlighting the College’s development journey and its key achievements in vocational education, training quality, and international cooperation.
At the meeting, Mr. Phạm Duy Đông presented an overview of the College’s sustainable development journey since its establishment. As one of the 45 institutions prioritized by the Government for investment as a high-quality vocational college, the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI) takes pride in being a reputable and trusted training institution within the national vocational education system. The UAE delegation showed particular interest in the College’s quality management system certified under ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, as well as its notable achievements in digital transformation and green transition. VCMI’s recognition as 7th in Vietnam according to the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings standards, and its presentation as a model of green vocational training on the website of UNESCO, made a strong impression on the education experts from the UAE.
The core focus of the working session was the discussion of practical cooperation opportunities. Both sides shared in-depth experiences in vocational education and raised the prospect of connecting VCMI with vocational institutions in the UAE. The most notable highlight of the discussion was an invitation from the UAE delegation, expressing their desire for VCMI to nominate outstanding lecturers to participate in educational projects currently being implemented by the UAE in developing countries. This invitation serves as clear evidence that the teaching capacity of VCMI’s academic staff has reached a level that enables participation in both domestic and international labor markets.
The delegation visited and toured the College’s facilities at the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI).
Following the discussion, the delegation conducted an on-site visit to the practical workshops and classrooms at the Green Center Building of the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI), a facility certified with the “Lotus Gold” rating for energy-efficient and effective use. During the visit, the delegates directly observed students operating modern equipment in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Renewable Energy. The students’ confidence and proficient practical skills clearly demonstrated the core value that VCMI pursues: training closely aligned with international professional practice.

The visit and working session of the UAE Embassy at the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI) carried significant strategic importance, reaffirming the College’s position as a high-quality vocational institution. Hosting a delegation from the Office of the President of the UAE demonstrated that VCMI’s reputation has extended beyond national boundaries, attracting the attention of leading economies in the Middle East. The cooperation with the UAE not only strengthens educational collaboration but also expands global career opportunities for students, opening pathways to the Gulf labor market, where demand for highly skilled technicians is rapidly growing. Moreover, the invitation for VCMI lecturers to participate in UAE-led international education projects marked a meaningful transition from “receiving training” to “supplying expertise,” contributing to the international recognition of Vietnam’s vocational education.
The visit concluded in a spirit of trust and confidence in a sustainable partnership. This milestone serves as strong motivation for the academic community of the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation to continue its efforts, affirming its role as a regional hub for green vocational training and a bridge of knowledge connecting Vietnam with the world.
